About AskToDermatologist

Dermatology,
decoded.

Evidence-based skin guidance — without the wait, the cost, or the guesswork.

The Story Behind This Platform

Built to bridge the gap between a search bar and a specialist.

Millions of people make daily skincare decisions based on TikTok trends, Reddit threads, and product reviews — sources that are often well-meaning but rarely accurate.

Meanwhile, a dermatology appointment can take weeks, cost hundreds, and feel intimidating for what may be a simple question. We built this platform to close that distance.

The science, made accessible
Why We Operate Anonymously
The science matters more than the byline.

Our founder completed full dermatology residency training at a major university teaching hospital and maintains an active clinical practice, with over 15 years treating patients. They’ve chosen to keep their identity separate from this platform — intentionally.

The guidance here should stand on its own merit: grounded in AAD and EADV clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed literature. What matters is that it’s correct, current, and reviewed by someone who practices dermatology every day.

How We Work

The science behind our guidance.

Evidence-Based

Selection

Every recommendation is grounded in peer-reviewed dermatology research — not trends, not brand partnerships.

Myth-Busting

Filter

We cross-check popular skincare claims against clinical evidence and flag what doesn’t hold up.

Analytical

Framework

We read skin through three lenses: barrier function, oxidative stress, and inflammation.

Our Editorial Policy

Sources first. Always.

Every article is reviewed by a practicing dermatologist before publication and updated as clinical guidance evolves. We cite primary sources — peer-reviewed studies and official guidelines — rather than secondary blogs or marketing material. We don’t accept sponsored content that influences our recommendations.

Clinical Experience, Not Just Theory

“Thousands of consultations across hospital and private practice — over more than 15 years. That clinical lens is what separates evidence that works in practice from claims that only look good on paper.”
